The Opposition delegation, led by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, met the President and told her that the situation in Manipur has reached a “critical point” in the last few weeks, witnessing a complete breakdown of law and order.
Amid the bitter tussle between the government and Opposition in Parliament over Manipur, senior leaders of the INDIA alliance on Wednesday sought President Droupadi Murmu’s intervention to re-establish peace and harmony and “determine” accountability for the “devastation”. They also drew her attention to the violence in Haryana.

Kharge later said they urged the President to impress upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Manipur, make an appeal for peace, take steps to restore normalcy and provide relief to the people.
